It was just another normal day on the lunge line when something spooked this horse, causing her to fall and sustain multiple fractures to the left side of her face, including a devastating injury to her orbital floor. University of Zurich Pferdeklinik surgeon Michelle Jackson immediately called on VetWelding for help in repairing the damaged orbital floor.

During surgery, Dr. Jackson utilized both metal and and resorbable implants to stabilize the multiple fractures. The pliability of VetWelding’s resorbable implants aided Dr. Jacksson and her team in creating a more anatomically designed implant for this very sensitive area of the skull. And because it’s not a very easy place to get to, Dr. Jackson first used one of our titanium templates to form the perfect shape and then molded our resorbable implant onto that and implanted it perfectly.
